Writing is more than just art. It is a form of communication from one soul to another. That feeling you get when you’re so transfixed, reading between the lines, the goosebumps, the notions of sadness, and the feeling of catharsis that follows? It’s magic when you are writing something that transcends human understanding. However, like everything has an inception, the beginning of my love story with writing was when I was fifteen. Before I was penning down my feelings in delicate poetry and prose, I was simply jotting down my thoughts on paper, curious as to how good it felt, turning the days of turmoil around.
Navigation
Writing gave me a map to help me find my way around a difficult and unforgiving world; it came into my life subtly and turned it around. It found me in a place of vulnerability, at the right place, at the right time, when I least expected it. As the tides started to shift and it became hard for me to swim, it chose me.
However, “writing” is not the only form of one’s self-expression. Art is subjective, and so are people’s feelings and emotions. Not everyone is the same color. Some people are deep amber, some people are innocent shades of blue, and others are shallow greens. But that’s what makes them unique in their own way. Everyone has their own way of channeling their inner struggles and perspectives.
Poetry became mine.
From the Heart Out
Why I enjoy poetry so much is because it stems straight from the heart. It’s like a painting that paints itself, piecing together the puzzle of your heart; you find your sorrow catching shape, becoming something out of nothing. Like a beautiful melody, with every faltering chord, every rhyme falls into place like it was meant to. In the end, when you’re admiring your masterpiece, you are overwhelmed by the picture.
It is not just poetry; it is the manifestation of your heart.
Creativity should never be boxed. As for poetry, it is one form of expression where the lock doesn’t exist. It’s just you and your emotions waiting to be heard and felt. However, what’s so beautiful about poetry is that it is evergreen.
You see, when observing an abstract piece of painting, everyone will have their own subjecting opinions. Hence, reading through my poetry, which is a raw representation of what I’m feeling, can be equally impactful for someone with an entirely different story!
And just like that, without even meeting the person, you’ve connected with them on a spiritual level. In a world where people lack communication and there are no deep conversations about the things that matter, poetry allows an ethereal escape and a glance within your inner self. Within a verse, you get to know so much about a person!
This is what I aim to achieve with my book Heart Out, to help people going through turmoil get in touch with their feelings; be a shoulder for them to cry on.
This is why I write my Heart Out.
