We patronized this business for over 20 years and we decided to use them to clean one room. They have serviced us during basement floods, and when the majority of our rooms were carpeted. They even cleaned our furniture and I never recalled paying more than $200.00 for three rooms and furniture. I decided to call them and became wary when I was given a number with a (212) area code. Once the manager/service personnel answered the phone, it became apparent that the business had changed hands. The personal customer service was now non existent. The carpet cleaners evaluated the one room that required the service and gave me a price of $250.00. They claimed that the condition of the carpet warranted the steep price. Remember, this is one room-12' by 12' at best. For that price, I could tack one another $150.00 and purchase new carpet. I objected and the manager said he could offer me a discount but the actual workers insisted on the $250.00 price. I reluctantly relented and when I inspected their work, it was uncovered that they failed to complete the cleaning--leaving about 1/4 of the room because they did not move the bed ( on wheels). There were other areas where it appeared that they did not even touch. I asked them to return to complete the work, and they never did. Even if they did complete the job, this was NOT worth $250.00 and I felt that they ripped me off.
